Welcome to the Student
Society of Petroleum Engineers, University of Louisiana at Lafayette
Chapter's website. Our chapter mainly comprises of the Petroleum
Engineering students attending our university, with an open invitation
to other engineering disciplines and geology or Physics students to
participate.
Currently, we have over
80 student members in our chapter and hope to grow every semester.
The Society of
Petroleum Engineers, SPE, is an international technical/professional
organization to further the use of technology employed in petroleum
recovery and related operations. SPE is one of the largest
organizations in the world with a vast online library of technical
presentations and papers on petroleum related topics. New technology
and technical information is exchanged among members and industry
professionals to advance in the operations of petroleum recovery
procedures.
Student members of this
society are exposed to develop technology through conference
participation, chapter meetings and meeting practicing professionals.
The student member also receives an annual subscription to the Journal
of Petroleum Technology, JPT, that further the education of the
students through published papers and case studies of actual petroleum
projects. Besides technical exposure, the student broadens his or her
opportunity for future job placement and financial assistance while in
school.
Enjoy our site and feel
free to contact any of the officers to answer any questions.
David Stanley,
President 2002-2003.
